Priest in the Wild

You're asking the right questions, has someone else asked them before?
Times are getting increasingly difficult for the moral, amoral and immoral alike. No matter how well off you are individually, the collective spiral to ruin catches up with you. You can never escape the visible poverty, misery, social and cultural regression around you here. You come to a rightful conclusion that it is beyond policy and search for alternative answers.

The constitution of the State, however binding and reassuring it is, does not offer the comfort or direct reach to answers for some questions that are far older than it’s conception.

In these trying times you’re positioned to turn to older constitutions for answers. You turn to a more comforting, metaphysically binding cultural constitution of mind that is religion. Both territory and mind are vast expanses and require directions for you to identify yourself and move within the realms. You’re introduced to both the moment you’re born. The birth certificate is the extension of the State (of territory) whereas your name on it is the extension of your culture which is largely influenced by your religion (state of mind). Your parents are the smallest level enforcers for both these constitutions. Which of these influence you more depends on your parents’ allegiances.

All religions have their own set of manuals that more or less convey the same message. A guide to live a satisfying life. A messenger that relays the message that is believed to have come from the God. Long after the messengers’ times, their words find various ways to reach the masses. The people’s faith in the message transforms it from mere words to a constitution for the state of mind, a way to think, behave, live and die. Naturally, these messages mature into laws and foundations for a state where only one faith is practiced. Eventually, the religion if matured and grown enough, exceeds beyond the borders of the territories of inception and finds followers in other states by consuming or displacing existing faiths. The youngest major religious constitution is about 1400 years old.

Most religions have a priestly class that carries forward the message of the God in accordance with the directions of the messenger. The priest is the one you reach out to for guidance when you find yourself acting in conflict with the laws of your faith. He is your charioteer in the chariot of faith towards God and truth for you believe he is closer to the message of God than you are.

What happens when the religion faces the test of time?
What happens when only fragments of it survive entirely woven with multiple other faiths?
What happens when all the priests say their version of faith is closest to the real one?
What happens when you barely understand the language of your priest?
What happens when the priest barely understands the language of your religion?

When you try to piece together your position in the State and the religion and the puzzle of time, history, geography and language, whom do you turn to for answers that lie beyond?
